What motivates you as a photographer?

"The immediacy, being present in the moment, relying on instinct whilst remaining grounded in well worn rules. Photography is a metaphor for life itself. The temporary nature of all things is somehow frozen in time. Photography cements the past into the present. Photography is my art and my passion, I love it!"

What gives a photograph meaning?

"Context is everything. When my camera is in hand my mind becomes quiet and less cluttered. Adjusting camera settings becomes automatic as I immerse myself in the world around me. When I take a photo it is the time, place and circumstance that influence the subject matter but it is my mood and state of mind that provides the context. Meaning is subjective yet very real. We respond to images in primary ways beyond conscious thinking. I like to appeal to both the subconscious and the rational at the same time."

What can we expect from you when photographing weddings and events?

"Personally I don't like having my photo taken and I was never keen on set or posed wedding photos, so naturally I lean towards 'documentary' or 'reportage' styles. I enjoy mingling up close and discreetly capturing those special moments as they happen. This style is challenging, nothing is certain or staged, but the rewards are great. Photographs that tell the story in ways that resonate emotionally with my clients makes me happy."

Camera equipment, presently I am using Fujifilm X series cameras and lenses.
